my donkey

i ripped this whimsical picture out of an airline magazine that was featuring amateur photographers from all over the world- and have loved it ever since.

dainty birds and divine drapery

silly, yummy postcards i got in israel i found this light pink jar for 66 cents and it was 50% off, so 33 cents!inconceivable! and then as luck sprinkled around me, i came across this old, glass birdy, which looks like it was once the top to a jar of some sort. and voila-i put the birdy on top and it fit perfectly. look at this beaaautiful king size sheet slash future curtains i rummaged upon today , it puts me in a good mood just looking at it.

fanciful dishware

i came across this little dish on my way out of chevy chase bank one afternoon. my fiscally responsible friends, caitlin and brighton had a sit-down talk with me one evening in buenos aires. they discussed stocks, mutual funds, and how ancient my parents were for putting MY FREEGEN MONEY into a freeegen cd.gosh whatin god's name were they thinking. so i decided to take matters into my own hands. i told the nice bank man, Yoseph, with all the gold framed awards of banking excellence surrounding him in his sterile glass corner office that i was ready to invest. i said i was at an age where i was prepared to take risks, challenge the status-quo and dive into the passionate, tUbulaR, driven grid of the busy serious stock market. i said this seems to be the right track for me as i'm young and ready to be aggressive(stock market term, fancy). then, in his charming broken french nigerien accent he said ambivalently, yes,of course ma'am,i am hear to help guide you with these decisions, but before you commit, do you know what uh, um a mutual fund is? so he sent me on my joyous way and told me to do some research on mutual funds before i decided to put my 23 year old life savings into a potentially volatile market. he was really nice, and really right, thanks yoseph :)so on to the dish. i was backing out of the chevy chase and my eyes came across a quaint shop called 'pennyworth thrift.'LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. mi favorito. afterall, after doing my research on mutal funds and stocks, i was certainly going to invest properly and make quick money, so a little money spending would be made back after my success in the stock market and my prospering future mutual fund.so i re-parked the car, while a strange man with his clipboard sat on a stool in the lot looking at me and i sauntered across the street, to the pennywennyshopplace next to the curious helium balloon slash incense slash hindu party shop, in the charming home of all orphaned treasures! A nice catholic couple stood at the registrar as a somewhat senile man discussed his stocks, with the occasional grunt, i listened in, now that it was more than background noise but potential leads. he was a bit off his rocker, talking a leeeeetle too loud for a religious thrift store of this type. the couple was getting a bit awkward and gawky after five minutes of his rambling, and i think a bit nervous that he was a little more psychiatrically flimsy than just your everyday yenta. but then, a cute little latin woman came to the register and said she would put a down payment for the sweater, but take the slacks and napkin holders. she explained that in her country this was what they did. the righteous woman at the register said nervously that it wasn't store policy but that she would make an exception this time. after that, i continued my much needed, uninterrupted rabid flipping through the delicate trousers and chachkies that dazzled in the stale air .when i walk into a thrift store, i feel this wave of energy run through me, my eyes sparkle, i become possessed with the diversity, eccentricity and abundance of potential treasures to be found. but then, in walked a man, preaching loudly, hey hey hey, how you all doin, miss you sure look nice, you been good, good, i been good, good good good, i gotta get me some boots, yeah boots, and he continued to mumble as he tried on those boots ova in the corna of the store, right next to the fabric ends...hmmmmmmmmm fabric ends, what can i do with those... ok, so then as i was daintily plucking through the vintage frames, and the occasional oddball lint roller or plastic pill case, i came across this blue flowered, simple, elegant, whimsical dish. i got the whole heart racey thing, this was it, i found my treasure for the day =) =) =) =) =)
